Some have replaced the controller without resolving the issue, suggesting deeper electrical faults.

Dolphin Proteus Dx4 Pool Cleaner Not Working?

  1. I have a Dolphin x4i. It great for a long time then three days ago I noticed it was in the same place so I took it out of the water and turned on it started to move but had a clicking noise like gears slipping. It would move a foot and reverse and the stop. I had an old 5i for parts so I took it apart but could find no problem.

  2. The drive gear isn’t engaging with the main wheel. It feels like it’s slipping. I swapped the bigger flywheel for the one on the other side and it didn’t change anything. I took off the large track wheel all together and the issue is the same. The small great wheel just turns a bit in each direction then quits.

  3. There is a short coming from the power supply directly from the proteus dx4. We have already bought a replacement controller where the power is controlled and realized that the short was from the cable connected to the machine. How do we proceed?

    • Mine is obsessed with a wall and runs the whole cycle, but, no longer runs all over the pool. Impeller is clean. When I move it to another part of the pool it finds a new wall to repeatedly clean. Any suggestions?

  4. One of the wheel tracks came off of my Proteus DX4. Can I just try to stretch it to fit back on? It is pretty stiff and I’m not having much luck with that approach.
