What should I do if the power supply or its switch LED on my Dolphin Active 20 is not working?
If you find that the power supply or its switch LED is unresponsive, consider these troubleshooting steps:
- Check the Power Source: Ensure that the power supply is plugged into a functioning outlet. Test the outlet with another device to confirm it has power.
- Inspect Connections: Verify that all connections are secure, including the power cable to the power supply. A loose connection can prevent the unit from powering on.
- Reset the Power Supply: Turn off the power supply, wait for about 30 seconds, and then turn it back on. This can sometimes reset the system and restore functionality.
Why is my Dolphin Active 20 Pool Cleaner not moving?
If your Dolphin Active 20 Pool Cleaner is stationary, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:
- Examine the Floating Cable: Ensure that the floating cable is properly connected to the power supply and is free of tangles or kinks that could restrict movement.
- Check for Obstructions: Look for any debris or obstacles in the pool that may be blocking the cleaner’s path. Clear any found obstructions to allow for movement.
- Inspect the Impeller: Open the impeller cover and check for any debris that may be obstructing the impeller. Remove any blockages to restore movement.
What can I do if my Dolphin Active 20 is moving in circles?
If your Dolphin Active 20 is only moving in circles, consider the following troubleshooting actions:
- Check the Filter Basket: A clogged filter basket can cause erratic movement. Clean the filter basket thoroughly to ensure proper water flow.
- Inspect the Power Supply Position: Ensure that the power supply is positioned correctly to allow the cleaner to navigate the entire pool area. An improper position can lead to circular movement.
- Look for Debris: Check for any debris stuck in the impeller or wheels that may be affecting the cleaner’s ability to move straight. Clear any obstructions found.
What should I do if my Dolphin Active 20 only moves in one direction?
If your Dolphin Active 20 is not turning and only moves in one direction, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Inspect the Tracks and Wheels: Check for any debris or blockages in the tracks or wheels that may be preventing the cleaner from turning. Clear any obstructions.
- Examine the Filter Basket: A clogged filter basket can affect the cleaner’s movement. Clean the filter basket to ensure optimal performance.
- Check the Floating Cable: Ensure that the floating cable is not tangled or kinked, as this can restrict movement and cause the cleaner to move in one direction only.
Why does my Dolphin Active 20 move but not clean the pool?
If your Dolphin Active 20 is moving but not effectively cleaning the pool, consider the following:
- Inspect the Filter Basket: A clogged filter basket can hinder cleaning performance. Clean the filter basket to ensure it is free of debris.
- Check the Impeller: Debris stuck in the impeller can prevent proper cleaning. Open the impeller cover and remove any blockages.
- Verify Water Conditions: Ensure that the pool water is clean and free of excessive debris, which can affect the cleaner’s ability to pick up dirt and debris.
What should I do if my Dolphin Active 20 only cleans part of the pool?
If your Dolphin Active 20 is only cleaning a portion of the pool, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Check Power Supply Positioning: Ensure that the power supply is positioned correctly to allow the cleaner to reach all areas of the pool. An improper position can limit its range.
- Inspect the Floating Cable: Make sure there is enough slack in the floating cable for the cleaner to navigate the entire pool area. Adjust the cable as needed.
- Examine the Filter Basket: A clogged filter basket can affect cleaning efficiency. Clean the filter basket to ensure optimal performance.
How can I fix kinks in the floating cable of my Dolphin Active 20?
If you notice kinks in the floating cable of your Dolphin Active 20, follow these steps:
- Stretch the Cable: Unwind the floating cable completely and stretch it out to remove kinks. Let it sit in the sun for a day to help relax the cable.
- Inspect for Damage: Check the cable for any signs of damage. If the cable is frayed or damaged, it may need to be replaced.
- Store Properly: When not in use, store the cable in a way that prevents kinks from forming, such as coiling it loosely.
What should I do if my Dolphin Active 20 does not climb the walls?
If your Dolphin Active 20 is struggling to climb the walls, consider these troubleshooting tips:
- Check the Filter Basket: A clogged filter basket can affect the cleaner’s ability to climb. Clean the filter basket to ensure optimal performance.
- Inspect Water Chemistry: Improper pH levels can make walls slippery, preventing the cleaner from climbing. Test and adjust the water chemistry as needed.
- Examine the Tracks: Ensure that the tracks are clean and free of debris. Blockages can hinder the cleaner’s ability to climb walls.
What can I do if my Dolphin Active 20 starts and then stops?
If your Dolphin Active 20 starts operating but then stops unexpectedly, consider the following troubleshooting steps:
- Check Power Supply: Ensure that the power supply is functioning correctly. Verify that it is plugged in and switched ON. A power interruption can cause the cleaner to stop.
- Inspect for Overheating: The cleaner may have an automatic shut-off feature if it overheats. Allow it to cool down for a while before attempting to restart.
- Examine the Filter Basket: A clogged filter basket can lead to performance issues. Clean the filter basket thoroughly to ensure proper water flow and operation.
What should I do if my Dolphin Active 20 flips over?
If your Dolphin Active 20 is flipping over during operation, try these troubleshooting steps:
- Check Weight Distribution: Ensure that the cleaner is balanced and that any debris is evenly distributed. An uneven load can cause it to flip.
- Inspect the Tracks and Wheels: Look for any blockages in the tracks or wheels that may be affecting stability. Clear any obstructions found.
- Examine Water Conditions: Ensure that the pool water is not too turbulent, as strong currents can cause the cleaner to flip. Adjust water features if necessary.

A week ago I just bought the dolphin active 20 and when it gets to a ledge or wall it climbs then flips itself over and gets stuck upside down. I’ve had other robots ( smaller models) that had no problem climbing ledges and walls is something defective with this one?
